The idea for Stack Pictures began in the classroom.

As a film professor, I've had the privilege of working with incredibly talented student filmmakers. Every year, I watch students develop as writers, directors, producers, editors, and storytellers. By the time they reach graduation, many are creating work that rivals professional productions.

In my years as a professor, I've noticed one glaring problem. Too often, emerging filmmakers graduate just as they're ready to make their first real film — and instead of stepping into their craft, they're pushed into a highly competitive entry-level job market at the exact moment they have the skillset to make something special. They leave with the talent, ambition, and ideas, but lose access to the mentorship, creative community, and resources that helped them develop as artists.

Then, in spring of 2026, I advised a group of five graduating seniors as they wrote, directed, and produced a feature film in a single semester for their senior capstone. The experience gave me confidence that a new venture could solve this problem.

Stack Pictures exists to bridge the gap between graduation and a sustainable creative career.

We believe the future of independent filmmaking belongs to creators who can combine artistic vision with practical execution. Through through development workshops, mentorship, production support, and strategic partnerships, we're committed to supporting filmmakers willing to take creative risks, tell meaningful stories, and put in the work required to bring those stories to life.
